Ukraine has invited Nordic countries to join the Northern Brigade project. The initiative provides for the training and armament of one battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"Nordic countries have been invited to join the 'Northern Brigade' project during the recent visit of Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa to Norway. Under this initiative, each Nordic country has the opportunity to train and equip one Ukrainian battalion," the statement reads.

The Deputy Minister also participated in the Northern Defense Industry seminar, where he urged defense directors from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland, and Sweden to engage in bilateral cooperation and invest in the Ukrainian defense industry.

"Defense companies and countries in Northern Europe, by joining the 'Northern Brigade' project, will have the opportunity to show the effectiveness of Northern European defense industry products in real combat situations. Let's unite our efforts for a common victory," Balanutsa stated.

The Ukrainian delegation also met with representatives from defense industry companies: NAMMO, Fjord Defence, FLIR UAS, Kongsberg, Equipnor, Norlense, and Rheinmetall.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry delegation communicated to the representatives of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense the need for increased assistance from partner states. In particular, the parties discussed Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and the need to enhance support for Ukraine under the Nansen program.

Western partners have been assisting Ukraine with military training.

Recently, it was reported that since the fall of 2022, Spain has trained over 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers as part of the EU mission.
