Kyiv is seeking official NATO recognition of Ukraine’s new role in the Euro-Atlantic security system. According to Alyona Getmanchuk, head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, this decision could be made very soon.

Ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, Ukraine hopes that its allies will officially recognize its new role in the Euro-Atlantic security system.

Kyiv is calling for the final declaration to finally enshrine Ukraine’s status as a state that not only receives support from the Alliance but also strengthens its security.

"Politically, it is very important to us that Ukraine be recognized as a security contributor. That is, specifically in the role of a security contributor, and not merely as a recipient of aid," Alyona Getmanchuk explains.

According to her, the upcoming summit in Ankara will be the first in which Ukraine will participate under its new status. However, NATO members must reflect this fact in the final declaration.

The head of the Mission notes that in recent years, Kyiv’s cooperation with the Alliance has reached a new level. Ukraine’s integration into NATO structures and its practical contribution to collective security now play a key role.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised Ukraine’s successes in the war against Russia and offered his forecast regarding peace talks.

It also became clear why the Alliance’s summit in Albania was unexpectedly called into question.

In addition, Swedish intelligence predicted Russia’s future should Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin step down from power.
