Ukraine has developed the idea of creating a Humanitarian Shield along its western border and is seeking support from Eastern European countries, said the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boyev at a meeting of the Ministers of Defense of Southeast European countries.

Boyev reminded the attendees that North Korean soldiers have already been deployed near the Ukrainian border. Now, quick reaction from partners is important, particularly in severing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.

The Deputy Minister of Defense also mentioned President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's victory plan, especially the second point of the document, which outlines the necessary weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Boyev specifically addressed the issue of strengthening Ukraine's air defense in cooperation with partner countries.

The Minister emphasized that Ukraine had earlier presented the idea of creating a Humanitarian Shield along Ukraine's western border. Boyev expressed hope that this initiative would be implemented.

He also called on Southeast European countries to provide Ukraine with Soviet-era weaponry from their reserves, which could have an immediate impact on the battlefield.

Support from Poland and Romania

In July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first suggested that Poland could assist Ukraine's air defense in destroying missiles and drones over western Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in early September, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stressed that Poland has the legal right to shoot down Russian missiles and drones heading toward its territory.

At the same time, the possibility of destroying Russian missiles over western Ukraine was also discussed with Romania.
