Ukraine urges comprehensive solution for transfer of frozen Russian assets, MFA says
Ukraine demands the West to adopt a comprehensive solution regarding the transfer of frozen Russian assets, states the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
"Today, we actively worked on the issue of Russian assets. Ukraine has begun to loudly speak about the need for a comprehensive solution so that we can use this money for the needs of our army and our recovery," he says.
According to the minister, several crucial discussions took place in the corridors of Davos that will influence the decisions regarding frozen assets.
"Financiers, lawyers, politicians have gathered here. It is their responsibility to make decisions. It is not easy, it is complicated, but it is inevitable and necessary as soon as possible," Kuleba states.
He adds that the transfer of the profits from Russian assets to Ukraine would be insufficient, hence the need for a comprehensive solution.
Transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine
It was previously reported that the United States proposed to the G7 countries to confiscate $300 billion of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine. They aim to finalize the corresponding plan before the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated on January 3 that the United States, the European Union, and other countries were getting closer to resolving the issue of redirecting frozen Russian assets in the West to the restoration of Ukraine.
