Ukraine has unveiled the latest unmanned naval vessel, MOBIDIK, capable of carrying long-range missile drones. The platform has six different modifications that are already carrying out combat missions at sea, Militarnyi reports.

What we know about MOBIDIK's specifications

According to the outlet, the new development by the company Avarid has a record operational endurance of up to 120 hours.

The unmanned vessel has a range of up to 1,400 kilometers and a maximum speed of 65 km/h. At the same time, it remains stable in waves up to 1.2 meters high.

The company CEO says that the platform is a fully functional system. The development phase is now complete, and the company moves toward codification and serial production.

Six modifications for various missions

Developers have created a family of six drone variants designed for different combat tasks:

  • MD-1 and MD-2: Create a naval air-defense line. They are equipped with interceptor drones, either fixed-wing (5 units) or quadcopter-type (8 units).
  • MD-3: Carries medium-range MORRIGAN strike drones for targeting ships and coastal infrastructure.
  • MD-4: A launch platform for a jet-powered long-range strike drone.
  • MD-5: Equipped with a heavy Browning M2 machine gun and two missiles (R-73, AIM-9, or equivalents) for engaging aerial and surface targets.
  • MD-6: An assault version carrying a 300 kg warhead and FPV strike drones designed to destroy large vessels and ports.

Development of defense technologies in Ukraine

Recently, Ukraine has been rapidly scaling up and reshaping its approach to developing advanced weaponry and protecting its maritime economic interests.

In particular, the government launched a large-scale international program, Brave International, which establishes unified rules for developing weapons in cooperation with foreign startups. The total budget of the first grant competitions involving developers from NATO countries already exceeds 100 million euros.

At the same time, new technological solutions are also being introduced to counter Russian smugglers. The Main Intelligence Directorate, together with domestic defense companies, is developing tactics for deploying advanced naval drones, Katran.

The new concept envisions that instead of destroying vessels, Ukrainian unmanned boats will detect and detain ships from the Russian shadow fleet for subsequent legal seizure and confiscation of oil or grain in favor of the state.
