Ukraine under massive drone attack: Impacts reported as air defenses repel Russian strike

On the night of May 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with 287 strike drones from various directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy UAVs, but some impacts were recorded, according to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On this night, the Russians attacked with 287 strike unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed type (including jet-powered versions), Gerbera, Italmas, and imitation drones of the Parody type from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00, air defense shot down/suppressed 279 enemy drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and Parody types in the north, south, and east of the country.
Eight strike drones hit targets at seven locations, and debris fell at seven locations.
"New groups of enemy drones are in the airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Forces warned.
Attacks on Ukraine
Recall that on the night of May 17, Russians attacked Dnipro with drones. As a result of the strikes, fires broke out in the city and people were injured.
Russia also carried out another strike on Kharkiv, damaging cars, residential buildings, and street lighting.
