The Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon receive new air defense systems to help repel enemy drone and missile attacks, according to Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"We're also preparing positive news regarding the strengthening of air defenses and interceptor drones. We will continue to scale up — the war brings new challenges, and we will overcome them," said the head of the President's Office.

Strengthening air defense in Ukraine

Earlier, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov named air defense as one of the country's strategic priorities and noted that in June alone, the enemy launched more than 3,500 missiles and drones.

On June 23, Norway's Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace — the manufacturer of NASAMS air defense systems — opened an office in Ukraine. Efforts are underway to enhance the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.

In addition, on Sunday, June 22, the Norwegian Minister of Defense visited Ukraine and announced financial aid for the purchase of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi also stated that the military is receiving light aircraft to help counter Russian attack drones. These programs are being funded by international partners.
