Ukraine plans to resume oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline in the near future amid ongoing talks with the EU on financial support, according to Reuters.
When will oil transit resume
Supplies could restart as early as Wednesday during the daytime. The move would mark the resumption of transit after a pause linked to earlier restrictions.
"Oil pumping is scheduled to begin tomorrow at lunchtime," the source said.
First transit requests
Hungarian oil company MOL has already submitted the first request to ship oil, signaling readiness for a rapid resumption of supplies.
"MOL has already submitted requests for the first volumes, which will go in equal proportions to Hungary and Slovakia," the source said.
What’s behind the decision
The resumption of transit comes as Ukraine holds talks with the EU on financial assistance. Oil supplies are seen as one of the factors influencing economic stability and cooperation with European partners.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the section of the Druzhba pipeline damaged in a Russian strike had been restored, making it possible to resume operations.
Hungary and Slovakia have also revised their positions, expressing readiness to support a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and to back a new package of sanctions against Russia, including relevant EU initiatives.
Russia plans to suspend oil transit from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline starting May 1, while updated export schedules have already been sent to the relevant parties.
