Ukraine to receive Estonian air defense missiles for testing
Ukraine will receive missiles for air defense from an Estonian company. They are designed to destroy drones, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko met with the management of the Estonian company Frankenburg Technologies in Kyiv.
The parties agreed that Ukraine would receive air defense missiles for testing. The first samples will be delivered in the coming months. The missiles are designed primarily to destroy drones and are capable of shooting down targets at an altitude of up to 2 kilometers.
According to Kusti Salm, director of Frankenburg Technologies, if the tests are successful and the future use is agreed upon, the production of these missiles can be organized in Ukraine.
Ukraine and Estonia have agreed that the next step may be to agree on a format for financing missile production.
The Deputy Defense Minister called on foreign manufacturers to provide Ukraine with weapons to test in combat conditions.
Weapons production in Ukraine
Ukraine has increased its weapons production during Russia's full-scale invasion and also cooperates with foreign manufacturers.
For example, the defense concern Rheinmetall will build 4 factories in Ukraine, one of which is already operating. In addition, Ukraine cooperates in the production of weapons on the territory of partner countries. This step was necessary to secure production.
Ukraine is also engaged in its development, in particular, of long-range weapons. Read more about this in the RBC-Ukraine article.
