Ukraine to receive air defense systems in December, more expected in January – Zelenskyy
In December, Ukraine will receive several air defense systems from its partners. In January, the air shield will be improved, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the President, he had received a briefing from Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on the implementation of agreements with partners to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
"We are expecting systems from several partners this December, plus there are things that could be done in January to enhance our air shield. It's important to implement them without any delay. Winter is a huge temptation for Russian terrorists," said Zelenskyy.
Air defense for Ukraine
Air defense systems currently play a key role in protecting Ukraine during the full-scale war. They protect civilian infrastructure, residential areas, and strategic sites from missile and aerial attacks, reducing civilian casualties and minimizing the enemy's impact on the economy and morale.
With the enemy actively using modern missiles and drones, the introduction of Western air defense systems, such as Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T, significantly enhances Ukraine's security.
On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a 600 million euro support package for Ukraine, which will include Iris-T air defense systems.
