President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the development, production, and procurement of drones. Tomorrow, July 22, the government is expected to adopt the relevant decisions, according to the President.

"Government officials, the National Security and Defense Council, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Office team are working together. We analyzed all areas related to the drones we need, with particular emphasis on interceptor drones. There were reports on each truly effective development — we will contract as many as possible. Tomorrow, Government officials must adopt the relevant decisions," Zelenskyy noted.

According to him, the planned volumes of drone supplies for Ukraine’s Defense Forces will help strengthen the protection of frontline positions and ensure normal life in cities and villages.

"Responsibility for fulfilling the contracts is personal. We are also working on scaling up our deep strikes. I thank everyone who is helping," the President added.

Production of interceptor drones in Ukraine

As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, Ukraine plans to produce hundreds of thousands of interceptor drones this year, as the number of downed Russian Shahed drones continues to grow.

Prior to that, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, ordered to improve air defense, specifically mentioning interceptor drones.

This directive came amid massive drone attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.

The President also noted that Ukrainian troops are actively using interceptor drones to destroy Shahed drones. Just within a week, hundreds of enemy targets were shot down.
