Ukraine to push for talks with partners on countering Russia’s new missiles, sources say
Russia has only a limited number of such experimental missiles, such as the one that was launched along the Dnipro, according to a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the source, the launch of this missile by the Kremlin was a demonstration step to intimidate and show the determination of its intentions.
It is also known that this missile is similar in type to the Yars missile system.
“The United States has systems that can shoot down such missiles, such as the THAAD system. Ukraine will initiate negotiations on trying to find a countermeasure to such weapons together with partners - either by obtaining appropriate systems capable of shooting them down or by modernizing Patriot systems,” the source says.
