Ukraine has officially deposited its instrument of ratification for the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This makes the country the 125th state party to the ICC, according to the website of the President of Ukraine.

Starting on January 1, 2025, Ukraine will become the 125th state party to the International Criminal Court.

"This is a landmark event for Ukraine. We have completed the long process of ratifying this important instrument; and finally, we are fully participating in the work of the world's key criminal justice body," noted Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the President's Office.

Ukraine signed the Rome Statute back in 2000. The Verkhovna Rada voted for its ratification on August 21 of this year, and on Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the corresponding law.

Additionally, at the beginning of this month, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported amendments to the Criminal Code to align it with the norms of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
