Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Türkiye, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The leaders discussed future plans and agreed on cooperation between their countries.

According to Ukraine's leader, he discussed bilateral relations with Erdoğan, as well as the situation in Europe and the Middle East.

"It is important that joint and coordinated actions strengthen the protection of life and provide greater security for people in every part of the world," the president emphasized.

Following the meeting, the two sides agreed on new steps in security cooperation, focusing primarily on areas where Ukraine can support Türkiye, including expertise, technology, and experience. Teams will finalize the details in the coming days.

The leaders also discussed upcoming projects in the gas sector.

"We discussed practical steps to implement joint projects in developing gas infrastructure, as well as opportunities for the joint development of gas fields," Zelenskyy noted.

Summing up, the Ukrainian president expressed his gratitude to President Erdoğan and the Turkish people for supporting Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity.

Ukraine and gas

A few days ago, media sources reported that Ukraine plans to shift the main period of gas imports to refill storage to the second half of the year, due to a sharp rise in energy prices caused by the war in Iran.

Ukraine's Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal also recently announced that Ukraine and Bulgaria have agreed to develop the Vertical Gas Corridor, which will significantly increase natural gas volumes.

Earlier, media outlets reported that Ukrainian authorities have only about six months to prepare for the next heating season.
