Support for Ukraine has become an irritating factor for some politicians, but Czechia will continue to help Kyiv, according to Czech President Petr Pavel on Novinky.cz.

"Supporting Ukraine has become an irritating factor for some politicians and citizens, but Russia and its power ambitions must not be allowed to retreat," the President says.

According to Pavel, it is also about the security of Czechia, as there are well-founded fears that Russia will not respect international law and will try to increasingly influence events outside its borders.

"If we don't want to obey, we have no choice but to support Ukraine," Pavel says.

He also adds that Russia should not feel that it will achieve its goals through any aggression.

Russia may end up next door to Slovakia

Prime Minister Petr Fiala added that by supporting Ukraine, Czechia is also supporting its security so that in the future Russia does not end up in Slovakia's neighborhood and increase its imperial appetites.

At the meeting, the top constitutional officials of Czechia agreed on all key issues and interests of Czechia, which Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky called security and prosperity for the country.

Other statements by Petr Pavel about the war in Ukraine

Earlier, Czech President Petr Pavel said that Russia could fully restore its combat capability within six years.

Pavel also said that the current situation on the battlefield does not indicate that Ukraine can gain a military advantage, and time is currently in Russia's favor.

Recently, the Czech president said that if the West misses the opportunity to maintain support for Ukraine, next year could be even more favorable for Russia.
