Ukraine strikes oil refinery in Russian Tatarstan, sources
Ukrainian drones attacked an oil refinery in Russian Tatarstan. This is not far from the site where the Shahed assembly plant was also hit, according to a source in the intelligence services.
According to the source, these were joint actions of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.
Meanwhile, Russian media reports that it was the Taneco refinery in Nizhnekamsk. According to preliminary data, the drone hit one of the installations. A fire broke out.

Taneco oil refinery
The Taneco oil refinery (Tatarstan Oil Refining Complex) of the Tatneft company is located in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan. It was founded in 2005. It is the first refinery built from scratch in post-Soviet Russia. In 2022, it rose to fifth place in the ranking of the country's largest refineries with a refining capacity of 16.2 million tons of oil per year.
Drone attacks on enterprises in Tatarstan
On April 2, Ukrainian drones attacked enterprises in the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation for the first time. The explosions took place in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, where industrial and manufacturing enterprises are located and which is more than 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
Local authorities in Tatarstan have already confirmed the attack. The so-called head of the republic, Rustam Minikhanov, said that the enterprises in the cities of Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk were attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles.
A source in the special services told RBC-Ukraine that the attack targeted a Shahed assembly plant in particular. It was a Defense Intelligence of Ukraine operation. In addition, Russian media reported that the drones also hit a dormitory where employees of the plant lived. It is known about the victims.
