Ukraine strikes key Russian oil depot supplying troops in Donetsk region - General Staff

"As part of efforts to degrade the enemy's offensive capabilities, on the night of June 23, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with the Rocket Forces and Artillery, struck the Atlas oil depot in Russia's Rostov region," the Ukrainian General Staff reported.

According to the agency, the facility is used to supply fuel and lubricants to Russian military units involved in the armed aggression against Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

The strike successfully reached the target area, and a fire has been confirmed at the site. The results of the attack are currently being assessed.

"The Defense Forces continue to take all necessary measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian forces and to compel Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff stated.

Strikes on Russian territory

The Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the Defense Intelligence (HUR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), have been systematically targeting sites inside Russian territory. The primary goal of these operations is to disrupt the enemy's logistics chains and destroy assets that support its ability to wage war.

Priority targets include oil refineries, air bases, ammunition depots, and railway hubs — all of which play a critical role in sustaining the Russian military.

For example, on the night of June 11, as reported by the General Staff, the Defense Forces attacked a gunpowder plant in Russia's Tambov region.

Additionally, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces, in coordination with other branches of the Defense Forces, carried out a successful strike on a key military-industrial complex facility in Russia's Moscow region.
