Ukraine strengthens Pokrovsk defenses, blocks enemy - General Staff

In Pokrovsk, measures continue to block enemy forces attempting to infiltrate the city. At the same time, territorial defenses have been reinforced, with additional assault units deployed, according to the General Staff on Telegram.
“Active resistance continues against attempts by enemy infantry groups to establish a foothold. In Pokrovsk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting strike-and-search operations,” the report said.
Among the units involved are the 425th Assault Brigade, drone system operators, combined groups of Special Operations Forces, the Military Law Enforcement Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the Main Intelligence Directorate. Military units defending the city have been strengthened.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, Russian forces have attempted 93 times to advance on Ukrainian positions. The enemy attacked in the areas of Mayak, Nikanorivka, Fedorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Myroliubivka, Pokrovsk, Lysivka, Zvirove, Novopavlivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Muravka, Filiya, and Yalta. In some locations, fighting is still ongoing.
Situation in Pokrovsk
Today, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian defenders are systematically destroying enemy forces in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, and nearby areas. All components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are contributing to eliminating Russian troops and defending the city.
The president made this assessment following reports from military officials and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk.
Pokrovsk has seen heavy fighting recently, as sources indicate that up to a thousand Russian troops may have infiltrated the city.
Moscow’s goal is to capture Pokrovsk and Kupiansk by February, so the occupiers are doing everything possible to push Ukrainian forces out of these areas.
However, there is currently no encirclement or cauldron. The enemy is conducting raids into the central, western, and northern parts of the city, engaging in close-contact combat.
