Today, April 25, Ukraine signed six agreements with Azerbaijan, including security-related deals and agreements on joint production, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced during a joint press statement with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
"Today we signed six documents. Our teams will definitely share the details later. These cover different areas. Today, the number one direction is security, specifically the defense-industrial complex," Zelenskyy said.
The president also reported agreements on joint production and the work of Ukrainian experts in Azerbaijan.
"Of course, we will develop our cooperation and co-production. These are very important areas that will certainly increase the security of our countries and our peoples, as well as trade turnover, which we truly want to significantly increase between our countries," he noted.
Zelenskyy described the signing of documents on the joint development of the defense-industrial complexes of both countries as a "very serious step."
He also thanked Aliyev for 11 support packages in the energy sector and assistance to children evacuated from border areas, and announced agreements in the field of education, including the education of Azerbaijani students in Ukraine.
Aliyev, in turn, stated that Ukraine and Azerbaijan are currently engaged in "quite serious cooperation," which was reaffirmed during Zelenskyy’s visit.
"As for military-technical cooperation, we also discussed this issue. It has quite broad prospects, both in Ukraine and in Azerbaijan. We see the development of military industries and the defense sector, and we can look at joint production. Overall, we have excellent opportunities in manufacturing. Today we also had extensive talks on this," he said.
The presidents also discussed the need to develop trade turnover between the countries.
"It currently amounts to over $500 million, and I think it will continue to grow. Because we have all the opportunities," Aliyev added.
