The Ukrainian side has appealed to the High Anti-Corruption Court to confiscate the property of a Russian company involved in the production of Kinzhal missiles, according to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

The agency wants to apply sanctions to the joint-stock company Research and Production Corporation Konstruktorskoye Byuro Mashynostroyeniya (KBM).

Third parties to be named include:

  • Joint-stock company NPO High Precision Systems;
  • State Corporation for the Promotion of the Development, Manufacture, and Export of High Tech Products Rostec;
  • Limited Liability Company Scientific and Production Complex Photoprylad.

What the Russian company produces

The Ministry of Justice explained that the joint-stock company Research and Production Corporation Konstruktorskoye Byuro Mashynostroyeniya (KBM) is an enterprise in the Russian Federation that develops and manufactures military equipment, including high-precision tactical missile systems, operational-tactical missile systems, anti-aircraft missile systems, and anti-tank missile systems commissioned by the Ministry of Defense.

The agency clarified that this enhances the military potential of the Russian Federation, which employs the mentioned military equipment in carrying out armed aggression against Ukraine.

According to public information, this company is responsible for the development of Kinzhal missiles, which Russians use to strike Ukraine. The company also deals with the development of helicopters Ka-52M and Mi-28NM.

What is known about the use of Kinzhal in Ukraine

In January, the Speaker of the Air Force Yurii Ihnat stated that Russia had launched 63 aeroballistic missiles Kinzhal on Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war. Ukraine shot down 25 such missiles.

It is worth noting that the MiG-31K aircraft is a carrier of the aeroballistic missile Kinzhal. It is difficult to intercept this missile due to its trajectory. Until the spring of 2023, Ukrainian forces had not shot down Kinzhal missiles. However, in May, air defense forces destroyed a Russian Kinzhal for the first time using the Patriot complex provided to Ukraine by partners.
