Ukraine says Russia used frigate and submarine to launch Kalibr missiles on April 6

Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, said that during the large-scale attack on Ukraine on April 6, the Russian military launched Kalibr missiles. They were fired from the waters of the Black Sea.
According to Pletenchuk, the likelihood of Russia using Kalibr missiles remains high, even when missile carriers are not present in the Black Sea. He said Russian forces only need a few hours to move into the area and launch their missiles.
"That’s exactly what they did overnight. This was the fourth use this year — four times in four months. A frigate and a submarine were involved in this latest strike. Both took part in the attack," said Pletenchuk.
He added that the submarine remains at sea.
Massive attack on April 6
In the early hours of Sunday, April 6, the Russian military launched another large-scale missile and drone strike across Ukraine. Russian forces used Shahed-type attack drones, Kalibr missiles, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.
That night, the targets included Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as Sumy, Mykolaiv, and the Kharkiv and Kirovohrad regions. At around 2:00 a.m. (Kyiv time), the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning of a missile threat in the southern regions. Later, the alert was expanded to include Kirovohrad.
At around 5:00 a.m., explosions were heard in Kyiv. Russian forces struck the capital with North Korean ballistic missiles.
About an hour later, cruise missiles launched by Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers were detected in Ukrainian airspace.
According to the Air Force, Russia launched 23 missiles and more than 100 drones. Ukrainian air defenses shot down six Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles, six Kalibr cruise missiles, one Iskander-M ballistic missile, and 40 Shahed drones.
