Ballistic missiles on Kyiv, drones in Mykolaiv and Sumy: Detailed report on Russian attack

On the night of April 6, 2025, Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine, employing both drones and missiles, including ballistic types. This assault resulted in casualties and damage across multiple regions.

Beginning on the evening of April 5, Russian occupiers launched attack drones targeting eastern, northern, central, and southern regions of Ukraine. Around 1:43 AM, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a missile threat to southern regions, followed by movements of missiles towards central areas. Monitoring groups noted the launch of Kalibr cruise missiles from the sea and the deployment of Tu-95MS aircraft. By approximately 5:00 AM, a ballistic missile threat was announced, with rapid targets heading towards Kyiv.
In total, Russia launched:

9 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft over the Saratov region;

8 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;

6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region;

109 attack drones of the Shahed type and other drone imitators from areas including Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk in Russia, and Chauda in Crimea.
Air defense systems successfully intercepted 6 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles, 6 Kalibr cruise missiles, 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile, and 40 Shahed drones. Additionally, 53 enemy drone imitators were lost without causing harm.
Kyiv
The capital experienced attacks by ballistic missiles, with initial explosions occurring around 5:00 AM. Fires and structural damages were reported in three districts:

Darnytskyi district: Fires erupted in non-residential buildings and damaged parked vehicles.

Obolonskyi district: A furniture workshop and a five-story business center sustained damage.

Solomianskyi district: Fires affected open areas and the facade of a warehouse building.

Three individuals were injured, two of whom were hospitalized. The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that a man was killed in the attack on the capital. He was on the street in the Darnytskyi district, near the explosion's epicenter. The man is being identified.

Kyiv region
Combined attacks resulted in damage across three districts:

Brovary district: Two buildings of an auto repair enterprise were destroyed, along with damage to seven vehicles and a gas station.

Bucha district: Damage to the roof and wall of a residential building.

Fastiv district: A passenger car was damaged.
No casualties were reported in these incidents.

Mykolaiv
Late on April 5, Russian drones attacked Mykolaiv, causing fires in private residences and damaging 13 homes and a vehicle. Four individuals sustained injuries: a woman aged 49, a woman aged 67, a woman aged 72, and a 57-year-old man. All are in stable condition and receiving outpatient treatment.
According to the State Emergency Service, a fire broke out in one of the houses (30 square meters), and a gas pipe caught fire in the other.
Sumy
The city of Sumy was attacked by eight Russian Shahed. The enemy attacked civilian infrastructure. The enemy attack damaged administrative and storage facilities, vehicles and other equipment of one of the enterprises.
According to preliminary reports, there were no injuries or casualties as a result of the enemy attack.
Amid the attack, residents of Konotop were urged to stock up on water and charge their gadgets. The mayor of the city warned of the threat.

Kharkiv region
The Russian invaders also hit a high-rise building in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, with a guided missile. According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Command, the attack resulted in the fire on the balconies from the 2nd to the 7th floor and four apartments. The fire covered an area of 100 square meters.
A 67-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman were injured in the shelling.
