In Zurich, Switzerland, on August 27-28, the season finale of the 2025 Diamond League, the main commercial athletics tournament, will take place. During these two days, diamonds will be awarded to the season's winners. Ukrainian athletes Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Yuliia Levchenko, and Oleh Doroshchuk are among the participants. Here is who represents Ukraine at the competition.

Season finale and participation of Ukrainian athletes

The Diamond League final will take place over two days. The first day of the competition will be in the city on August 27. The program includes six events, in particular women's pole vault, which organizers rescheduled from Thursday due to weather conditions.

On this day, Ukraine will be represented by Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Yuliia Levchenko in the high jump. This is the only event in the season finale where Ukrainian athletes will compete.

Yaroslava Mahuchikh: Struggle for 4th diamond

Mahuchikh can win her fourth diamond and equal the record for consecutive victories. The current record belongs to Russian athlete Mariya Lasitskene.

Her main rival will be Nicola Olyslagers, who has already beaten Mahuchikh multiple times at international competitions.

The final promises to be a tense head-to-head battle for the title and record achievements.

Oleh Doroshchuk: Chance for final again

The men's event featuring Ukrainian Oleh Doroshchuk will take place on August 28. At the last stage in Brussels, Doroshchuk won with a height of 2.25 m. This victory allowed him to qualify for the final and continue his podium streak.

This year, in the final, he will compete without such well-known rivals as Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Barshim, making the tournament even more intriguing.

Mondo Duplantis: Favorite in pole vault

The Swedish pole vaulter is going for his fifth consecutive diamond and is considered the main favorite in the final.

Duplantis has already set three world records in 2025 and intends to clear 6.30 m. His rivals, including Emmanouil Karalis, may provide serious competition, but the Swede remains the frontrunner.
