Ukraine's spy chief rules out Russian ground assault on Ukraine's Dnipro, warns of drone threat

Currently, there is no military threat to Dnipro, except for possible drone and missile attacks. Fighting is ongoing near the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrinform reports, citing Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
"For the city of Dnipro, apart from the missile and drone strikes you have seen, there is no other threat," he said.
Budanov stated that fighting is taking place along the outskirts of the Dnipropetrovsk region from the southeast direction. The Chief of the Defence Intelligence added that the battles in that area have been going on "for quite a while, with nothing new."
Fighting near the Dnipropetrovsk region
Since spring, Russian forces have been trying to break through the Ukrainian defense to advance into the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In June, Russia claimed that the occupiers had entered the Dnipropetrovsk region. However, the General Staff denied the reports about Russian advancement.
According to Ukrainian military sources, the invaders continue to attempt to achieve a political “victory” and secure a foothold in the new region.
For example, on July 2, a video appeared online claiming that Russian troops had entered the first village in the Dnipropetrovsk region — Dachne. The General Staff told RBC-Ukraine that this is disinformation.
"This is Russian disinformation. Fighting continues within the Donetsk region," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
