Soldiers of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled an assault by North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. In total, over 15 North Korean soldiers were eliminated.

The assault lasted from morning until night. In total, losses amounted to 17 North Korean soldiers, one of whom blew himself up with a grenade.

“In the morning, a clearing group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine moved out and came across one surviving North Korean soldier. He set an unsuccessful trap for the rangers of the 6th Regiment. The North Korean fighter tried to mislead the Special Operations Forces soldiers and blow himself up with them on a grenade. When the Ukraine's rangers approached him, he blew himself up,” the spokesperson added.

The Ukrainian military noticed the danger in advance and moved away from the grenade's impact zone. None of the soldiers were injured.

Kursk region

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past day, January 12, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 Russian attacks in the Kursk region. Recently, Ukrainian soldiers captured 2 North Korean soldiers for the first time.
