The decision by the Netherlands to allocate 500 million euros for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine will help strengthen protection against regular Russian attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.

According to the President, he held a phone conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.

"Ukraine, and therefore all of Europe, will receive greater protection from Russian terror. I am sincerely grateful to the Netherlands for its significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's air shield," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He reminded that within the 500 million euro package from the Netherlands, Ukraine will receive American weapons, including missiles for Patriot systems. This is the first such step among NATO countries at a time when Russia is trying to scale up its attacks on Ukraine.

"This will definitely help protect the lives of our people!" the Head of State stressed.

He also noted that the Netherlands' decision was one of the practical outcomes of the NATO summit in The Hague.

Zelenskyy thanked NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Schoof for their support. He also invited the Dutch Prime Minister to visit Ukraine.

Assistance from the Netherlands

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans previously announced that Ukraine would receive American weapons worth 500 million euros. The funds for the purchase of military aid were provided by the Netherlands.

According to him, the aid package includes missiles and components for the Patriot and HAWK air defense systems.
