The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has released exclusive footage of the prisoner exchange with Russia that took place on July 23, according to the SBU’s official Telegram channel.
“Today’s exchange is the result of the work of the Joint Center for Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, and other authorized bodies that carried out the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” the statement reads.
The SBU also quoted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who emphasized that the state is counting on the full implementation of the humanitarian agreements reached during the meeting in Istanbul.
“Every Ukrainian life is of the highest value! We are working to fulfill the instructions of the President of Ukraine and bring all our citizens home from captivity,” the SBU concluded.
Prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia on July 23
Ukraine and Russia carried out a new stage of prisoner exchange on July 23 - marking the ninth exchange under the previous agreements reached in Istanbul.
Severely ill and seriously wounded defenders returned home. In total, more than a thousand Ukrainians have been brought back through all stages of the latest Istanbul agreements.
According to Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the exchange included soldiers who had been held in harsh conditions for a long time and were in urgent need of medical assistance.
