Ukraine's Security Council exposes Putin's new ceasefire as manipulation

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s idea of a new ceasefire from May 8 to 10 is a manipulation tactic. Russia has no intention of agreeing to a full ceasefire, said Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
"Why not a full and comprehensive ceasefire? Anything that is not a comprehensive ceasefire is a Russian manipulation for information and military purposes," Kovalenko said.
He added that the Kremlin’s offer is meant to conceal its true intentions - to continue the war against Ukraine.
Easter ceasefire
Earlier this month, ahead of Easter, Putin ordered a 30-hour pause in fighting after rejecting a US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.
Despite the fact that the ceasefire was initiated by Russia, it violated the truce. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces violated the Easter ceasefire about 3,000 times.
In addition, Vladyslav Voloshyn, the Southern Defense Forces spokesperson, said Russian troops used the temporary ceasefire to transport ammunition. That is why, after Easter, the shelling intensified significantly.
On Saturday, April 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Putin might agree to a full 30-day ceasefire, but only under two specific conditions.
