Ukraine's Prime Minister discusses energy recovery aid with US Deputy Secretary of State
On Monday, August 26, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal had a conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State, Acting US Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Richard Verma, according to Shmyhal.
Shmyhal informed Verma about the damage to civilian infrastructure caused by Russia's massive air attack. He emphasized that the enemy deliberately targeted the energy sector. Currently, energy workers are doing everything possible to restore the electricity supply to the homes of Ukrainians.
"Financial assistance from the US is extremely important for us. Part of it supports the energy sector. We are preparing for a difficult heating season and need more equipment from our partners to build a decentralized energy system. I outlined our urgent needs," the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of complete confiscation of the frozen assets of Russia and channeling resources to support Ukraine.
"We also discussed long-term projects and war risk insurance. We continue to work together on these fronts. I thanked the US administration and government for their contribution to strengthening Ukraine. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to grow," Shmyhal added.
