President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement about his desire to see Ukraine succeed, President Zelenskyy made this remark while responding to journalists’ questions.

Zelenskyy emphasized that no one in the world trusts the words of the Russian Presidentt.

"I don’t know what Putin told Trump, maybe he said similar things. But the trust in that is zero," Zelenskyy stressed.

The president added that if Putin’s "success" is defined by what he is doing in Bakhmut, Vovchansk, Chasiv Yar, and now in Pokrovsk, then such a "success" should be built in Russia, not in Ukraine.

Putin’s intentions toward Ukraine

In more than ten years of aggression, Russian President Vladimir Putin has never shown any respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty. On the contrary, Russia has consistently destroyed Ukrainian cities, infrastructure, and civilian populations. Bakhmut, Vovchansk, Chasiv Yar, and the strikes on Pokrovsk and other settlements are clear evidence of the Kremlin’s true intentions.

Ukrainians are convinced that Putin’s actions are aimed at erasing Ukraine as an independent state. This involves an attempt to remove Ukraine from the political and historical map of the world and to destroy Ukrainian identity, language, and culture.

However, on December 29, US President Donald Trump stated that Russia supposedly wants to see Ukraine succeed.

This came after it was revealed that Putin had ordered the continuation of the offensive on Zaporizhzhia amid peace negotiations.

Since Russian generals often lie to Vladimir Putin about the situation on the front, the Kremlin leader develops a belief that Russia could allegedly defeat Ukraine.

Recently, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about what he would be willing to discuss with Russian President Vladimir Putin if such a conversation were ever possible.
