Yulia Svyrydenko has been dismissed from the post of Prime Minister after Ukraine's parliament approved the decision today, according to the parliamentary session.

A total of 258 members of Ukraine's parliament voted in favor of dismissing the head of government, while one voted against. Another five members abstained, and 47 did not vote.

Svyrydenko's dismissal

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to reshuffle the Cabinet of Ministers and, in particular, replace the prime minister only on Sunday, July 12. On the same day, he met with then-Prime Minister Svyrydenko and her potential successor, Sergii Koretskyi (head of Naftogaz).

Zelenskyy offered Svyrydenko a new position but did not provide details. In her statement, she confirmed both her resignation and her readiness to continue working in the new role. It is likely to be the position of Ukraine's ambassador to the United States.

As for Koretskyi, he did not disclose details of his meeting with Zelenskyy. However, RBC-Ukraine's sources confirm that he is the likely successor to Svyrydenko.

According to the plan, the new head of government is to be appointed later this week, with the maximum goal being the appointment of the entire new Cabinet of Ministers.

Several ministerial changes are currently being planned, and the main intrigue remains whether the president will decide to replace Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. According to one version, the Ministry of Defense could be headed by the current Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.

The resignation of the prime minister also means the resignation of the government. Therefore, after appointing a new prime minister, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) must reappoint the ministers. The prime minister submits the nominations for all ministers except the ministers of foreign affairs and defense. The nominations for the ministers of foreign affairs and defense are the president's prerogative.
