Russian President Vladimir Putin's reaction to the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine exemplifies typical behavior of an aggressor country, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.

"Typical behavior of Russia in international politics: ‘We are ready to cease fire, but there are ‘nuances.’”

He added that Russia's information strategy will likely focus on blaming Ukraine for its own violations and presenting strange demands.

Kovalienko emphasized that Russia’s approach mirrors tactics used during the signing of the Minsk agreements.

"This is their tactic and it will remain the same - lying and blaming," he concluded.

What Putin said

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted for the first time to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.

The Kremlin leader assured that he supports this idea, but there are many nuances. In particular, he recalled the presence of the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region. Putin is concerned that if a ceasefire occurs, they will leave without a fight.

Therefore, Putin wants to discuss such nuances with the United States, in particular with President Donald Trump.

Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he was ready to impose maximum sanctions on Russia if Moscow does not want to end the war.
