Information about the Russian attack on a Ukrainian thermal power plant on the night of September 28 is untrue, according to the Ministry of Energy.

The ministry states that all thermal power plants located in Ukrainian-controlled territory are operational. They are actively preparing for the upcoming heating season, with ongoing repairs and restoration work following Russian shelling from the previous winter.

However, during the shelling last night, a combined heat and power plant in one of the cities in the southern part of the country was damaged. It was not operational at the time of the shelling. A storage facility caught fire, which was subsequently extinguished by firefighters.

Background

Today, Ukrenergo state energy company reported that a thermal power plant in the southern region was damaged in a Russian attack yesterday evening.

Later, it corrected the report, stating that it was indeed the combined heat and power plant that had been damaged.
