The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has separated procurement policy development and its implementation, thus adopting the standards of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The Ministry has established a Procurement Policy Department responsible for formulating procurement policy. Procurement has been transferred to separate agencies - the State Logistics Operator and the Defense Procurement Agency.

Dmytro Klimenkov emphasizes that the Ministry of Defense is working to bring interoperability with the North Atlantic Alliance regarding procurement organization, budget process, integrity, and institutions.

"Cooperation with NATO countries is a unique opportunity to attract best military practices and integrate them into our defense system. We strive to improve the standards and qualifications of our military personnel and strengthen the country's defense capabilities," says the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

Ukraine's approximation to NATO standards

At the end of November 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces introduced many NATO standards. The updated doctrines will include the concept of air and space operations.

On January 19, in Paris, representatives of the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and France signed a technical agreement on mutual acceptance of state quality assurance for defense goods, works, and services. This will reduce the financial costs of the Ministry of Defense when purchasing defense goods, works, and services.

The Verkhovna Rada will soon set up a committee to discuss adapting Ukrainian legislation to NATO standards.
