In Paris, a technical agreement on mutual acceptance of state quality assurance for defense goods, works, and services was signed between the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and France, according to the press service of the Ministry of Defenses of Ukraine.

The relevant agreement was signed by the Deputy Chief of the Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, during his visit to France.

According to him, the document will regulate the interaction between the defense ministries of the two countries in the field of ensuring the quality of defense goods, works, and services. It aims to facilitate further cooperation in providing mutual state guarantees in accordance with the requirements of the NATO Standardization Agreement STANAG 4107.

It is noted that this will also help reduce the financial expenses of the Ministry of Defense during the procurement of defense goods, works, and services.

STANAG 4107 standardization:
The interaction between NATO member states, agencies, and institutions in the field of quality assurance for defense goods, works, and services is carried out in accordance with the NATO Standardization Agreement STANAG 4107, "Mutual recognition of government quality assurance processes and the use of publications related to AQAP quality assurance" (AQAP).

The purpose of STANAG 4107 is to ensure compatibility. It covers processes, procedures, provisions, and conditions under which the mutual assurance of the quality of defense goods, works, and services should be carried out by the authorized body of one NATO member state at the request of another, or by the alliance organization based on NATO quality assurance publications AQAP during the procurement of defense goods, works, and services.

NATO Standards in Ukraine
In late November 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces implemented several NATO standards. Among the updated doctrines is the application of the concept of "air and space operations."

It is worth mentioning that there are a total of 1135 NATO standards in the Alliance. As of the end of November, 280 of them have already been introduced in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense, which constitutes about a quarter of the total.

  • 174 standards were introduced within the framework of the Ukraine-NATO Partnership Goals (priority NATO standards).
  • 106 are the so-called "initiative" standards, implemented by Ukraine outside the Partnership Goals.
