Ukraine's Kupiansk closure: Military Administration reveals number of civilians remaining in city

In Kupiansk, the Kharkiv region, more than 700 civilians still remain, while enemy shelling has destroyed all critical infrastructure, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
"Over the past day, 153 people were evacuated from the Borivske and Kupiansk directions. Among them were 26 children from the Shevchenkove community," he said.
At present, the humanitarian situation in the Kupiansk direction remains under control despite the enemy shelling having destroyed all critical infrastructure.
"We are trying to restore the damaged facilities and deliver humanitarian aid. In total, about 4,400 people remain in this direction, including 758 residents still in the city of Kupiansk," Syniehubov noted.
At the same time, he assured that there has been no enemy advance toward Kupiansk.
"The Joint Defense Forces are doing everything possible to stop the enemy attempting to break through to Kupiansk. There has been no enemy advance there," Syniehubov wrote.
Kupiansk
Earlier, the head of the City Military Administration, Andrii Besiedin, announced the closure of Kupiansk. According to him, the city is currently closed to any civilian services.
He noted that only the military is allowed to enter Kupiansk, which makes evacuation extremely difficult. Civilians wishing to evacuate are advised to leave the city on foot, where they will be picked up by volunteers, the State Emergency Service, or the police. In addition, people can seek assistance from the military.
According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Russian forces do not control any part of Kupiansk. However, they continue to disguise themselves as civilians or Ukrainian soldiers in order to secretly set up observation posts.
