Ukraine's GTA-style mobile game adds role of controversial draft enforcer

The Ukrainian mobile game "Ukraine Online," reminiscent of the iconic GTA series, has received a new update that has sparked active social media discussion. Among the main additions is the appearance of new characters, particularly staff from territorial recruitment and social support centers (TRSSCs), reports the YouTube channel Davos.
New roles appear in game
According to the developers, the update became available at the end of May. It expands the list of playable roles in the game: players can now take on the roles of police officers, doctors, soldiers, criminals, and TRSSC staff. The latter has generated the most discussion among users.
Ukraine Online is an amateur open-world mobile game set on the streets of Ukrainian cities. Players can explore locations inspired by real landmarks in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and other settlements. The gameplay allows users to move around the map, interact with NPCs freely, and complete tasks based on their chosen role.
According to users, the appearance of TRSSC personnel in the game reflects the current social context tied to mobilization processes in Ukraine. Amid public debate surrounding the work of recruitment centers, their inclusion in the virtual world appears to be an ironic interpretation of reality.

What game developers say
At the same time, the developers refrain from making political or satirical comments, stating that their only goal is "to create a game where users recognize familiar images and events, but in an environment of complete freedom of action."
Previously, the game gained notoriety for allowing players to take on the roles of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, emergency services, criminals, and even bloggers. Adding TRSSC staff is the next step in creating a parody-like but recognizable Ukrainian gaming world.
Ukraine Online is available for download on mobile devices. The game is regularly updated and remains free for users.
