Ukraine's General Staff dismisses claims of troop encirclement in Kursk region

Information about the encirclement of Ukrainian units in the Kursk region is false. Such reports are being spread by Russian propaganda, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Reports about the supposed encirclement of Ukrainian units by the enemy in the Kursk region are not true and are being fabricated by the Russians for political purposes and to exert pressure on Ukraine and its partners," the General Staff stated.
According to them, the situation has not significantly changed over the past day, and military operations in the operational zone of the Kursk group of forces continue.
The General Staff clarified that the Defense Forces carried out a regrouping and withdrew to more advantageous defensive positions. They are carrying out their assigned tasks in the Kursk region.
"Our soldiers are repelling enemy offensive actions and inflicting effective fire damage using all types of weapons. Since the beginning of the current day, there have been 13 combat engagements in the Kursk direction. There is no threat of encirclement of our units," the General Staff reported.
Fighting in the Kursk region
Last summer, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched an operation in the Kursk region. Currently, Russian forces are attempting to push the Ukrainian military out of their positions.
However, the situation in the Kursk region became more complicated in early March. According to sources from RBC-Ukraine, Russian troops are trying to cut off the Sudzha-Sumy road to create an operational encirclement of Ukrainian forces.
The Russian forces have likely advanced toward the city of Sudzha, and the Russian Ministry of Defense has already announced the city’s capture.
