The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The Ministry called the document an important step towards peace.

“Ukraine welcomes the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, brokered by the United States and France,” the statement reads.

The Ministry believes that this is an important step towards peace and regional stability, which will help prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Lebanon and contribute to an overall reduction in tension in the Middle East.

“We are convinced that full compliance by the parties with their obligations will be important for achieving a sustainable peace,” the Ministry states.

Ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon

On November 26, it was reported that the Israeli authorities may approve a ceasefire in Lebanon. It will come into force on November 27.

Later, the Israeli Security Cabinet supported the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. The fighting in Lebanon will stop. Interestingly, the headquarters of the newly elected US president said that this happened because of Donald Trump's victory in the election.

As RBC-Ukraine has previously reported, this agreement should end the active phase of hostilities in Lebanon and the shelling of northern Israel.
