Israel and Hezbollah may cease fire on November 27 - The Jerusalem Post
Israeli authorities may approve a ceasefire in Lebanon today, November 26. Then it will come into force on November 27, The Jerusalem Post reports.
According to the agency, citing Lebanese media, US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to announce a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah at 22:00 today.
At the same time, the ceasefire agreement itself will come into force tomorrow at 10 a.m.
The journalists clarify that this information emerged after several days of tense negotiations, during which Israel insisted that France be excluded from the list of security guarantors in Lebanon. This is because Paris has announced plans to execute the ICC warrant for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Such an agreement still needs to be approved by the Israeli authorities, who began discussing the document at 6 p.m. Netanyahu is also expected to negotiate a ceasefire with local authorities in the north of the country (Israel borders Lebanon to the north).
Ceasefire in Lebanon
In October, as part of its operation against Hezbollah, Israel brought its troops into Lebanon. There, they destroyed militant targets.
The Israeli authorities noted that by destroying Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, they wanted to create conditions for the return home of Israelis who had left northern Israel.
