Ukraine's Foreign Ministry reacts to preparations for Trump-Putin meeting
Ukraine sees nothing new in the fact that the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, plans to meet with Russia's Vladimir Putin. The Republican has repeatedly announced such plans, according to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.
“Donald Trump has previously spoken about plans for such a meeting (with Putin - ed.), so we see nothing new in this,” Tykhyi said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that Kyiv's position remains simple: a full-scale war must end fairly. At the same time, Trump is also determined to end the war.
Tykhyi noted that the main thing today is that Ukraine is also looking forward to a meeting between Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as cooperation with the United States is a priority.
“We are preparing for Ukrainian-American contacts at the highest and highest level immediately after the inauguration,” he added.
Trump plans to meet with Putin
During a recent speech to Republican governors, Trump said that Putin had expressed a desire to meet. In particular, he added that the meeting is already being prepared, but did not specify specific dates.
Meanwhile, the Russian dictator's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, claimed that Putin, in turn, was ready to meet with Trump and that no conditions were needed.
