Ukraine's Foreign Minister heads to Africa: First-time visits planned
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has departed for Africa, where he will visit three countries for the first time as head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the press service.
This is Kuleba’s fourth tour of Africa, which will take place from August 4 to 8. During the trip, he will visit Malawi, Zambia, and Mauritius, marking the first time a Ukrainian foreign minister has visited these countries.
Kuleba will hold talks with the heads of state, foreign ministers, and representatives of business and cultural circles. The main topics will be the development of bilateral relations and the involvement of African nations in restoring a just peace for Ukraine.
In Malawi, the focus will be on food security, including the exchange of experience and technologies in agriculture and the humanitarian program "Grain From Ukraine." In Zambia, discussions will center on bilateral relations and cooperation within international organizations.
"In Mauritius, which has one of Africa’s most successful economies, meetings will emphasize attracting investment and involving Mauritian businesses in the reconstruction and recovery of Ukraine," the statement said.
Africa-Ukraine relations
In the context of the full-scale war, Ukraine has intensified its diplomatic efforts in the African region. The country seeks greater support from African nations and aims to involve them in the peace formula.
Last year, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba made his first African tour since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, and he visited Africa twice more in 2022 — once in the spring and again in the autumn.
