Russian troops increased the number of artillery strikes in southern Ukraine by a third over the past day. Meanwhile, enemy assaults have decreased in the Vremivka direction, according to the spokesperson for the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, Vladyslav Voloshyn, during a national telethon broadcast.

"The enemy launched a combined missile strike early in the morning. Our air defenders worked actively. However, the past day was also quite tense in our operational zone, as the enemy continued artillery shelling and increased it by about a third," said Voloshyn.

According to him, while the number of artillery strikes previously ranged from 250 to 350, this time the enemy carried out between 350 and 370 strikes.

At the same time, as the spokesperson noted, the number of enemy assaults in the Vremivka direction has slightly decreased.

"In the Vremivka direction, the number of assaults dropped by 10 – from 44 to 34. As for the Kherson or the so-called Prydniprovskyi direction, the situation there has remained relatively stable for several weeks: the enemy conducted four assault actions," Voloshyn added.

According to the spokesperson, in this direction, Russian forces conduct five to seven assaults daily.

Meanwhile, the enemy has not reduced its shelling of Kherson and nearby settlements on the right bank of the Dnipro using drones, guided aerial bombs, and unguided rockets.

Situation on the frontline

According to the General Staff, as of December 25, 128 combat engagements have occurred on the frontline since the start of the day. Russian occupiers are most actively attacking in the Pokrovsk direction.

Specifically, the Russian army is attempting to break through to Pokrovsk via its left and right flanks to encircle the city. The area is concentrated with units from three Russian combined-arms armies.

Meanwhile, as reported by Vladyslav Voloshyn, the spokesperson for the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine maintain fire control over almost the entire island area of the Dnipro in the Kherson region. Russians attempt 5–7 landings there daily.
