Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Defense has delivered over one million FPV drones to the frontline. To speed up and improve supply, new approaches have been introduced, Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal, reports.

"Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Defense has already supplied over 1 million FPV drones for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Shmyhal said.

Ukrainian Minister emphasized that to ensure drones reach the frontline faster and in the required quantities, the Ministry is implementing new approaches.

In particular, these include framework agreements based on technical specifications.

"We contract manufacturers not by specific product names but by the compliance of their drones with the required technical specifications," Shmyhal explained.

According to the Ukrainian Minister, this allows engaging a wide range of manufacturers in procurement, ensuring competition among them and transparency through Prozorro tenders.

Another innovation this year is DOT-Chain Defense.

"A digital marketplace where units themselves choose the drones they need. This approach ensures targeted and rapid delivery of drones to the frontline. The platform is already operating in pilot mode for 12 combat brigades," Shmyhal stressed.

The Minister said Ukraine's priority is to develop the most effective mechanisms to provide warriors at the frontline with the necessary drones.

"In line with assigned tasks, the Defense Procurement Agency is working to increase the pace of supplies so that every unit receives exactly what it needs to carry out combat missions," the Minister concluded.

Weapon marketplace

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine launched a new digital system earlier this month, designed to supply weapons to the Armed Forces.

Each military unit will be able to independently select the equipment it truly needs, while DOT-Chain Defense ensures financing, logistics, and direct communication with manufacturers without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Currently, the system operates with FPV drones but will later cover other types of drones, electronic warfare systems, and robotic complexes.

So far, 11 companies have already been integrated into the DOT-Chain Defense marketplace. Check out a detailed list in our material on the topic.

As previously reported, Ukraine will co-finance loans for drones and electronic warfare manufacturers.
