Russian forces struck Chernihiv today, December 24, during the day. An enemy drone hit a multi-story residential building, according to the Chernihiv City Council, the head of the Chernihiv Military Administration, Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, and Chernihivoblenergo (the main power distribution company for the Chernihiv region).

The city council reported that around 4:00 p.m. Kyiv time, the fall of a Russian drone was recorded in Chernihiv. As a result, a multi-story building was damaged, and a fire broke out inside. A car is also on fire.

For his part, Bryzhynskyi clarified that it was a direct hit on a multi-story building. A fire broke out in one of the apartments.

As of 4:42 p.m., it was reported that the fire had been extinguished. There are no casualties or injuries.

The Chernihiv City Council clarified that the Russian drone hit the side wall of the sixth floor of a multi-story building. As a result, a fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished.

The Department of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of the Chernihiv City Council has begun inspecting the damaged property. Windows were reported broken in the multi-story building hit by the drone, as well as in a nearby dormitory.

A "resilience point" will be set up at the scene, where police will accept statements from those affected.

Strike on critical energy facilities

At the same time, Chernihivoblenergo reported that several critical energy facilities in the Chernihiv district were damaged as a result of Russian strikes. Power outages affected subscribers in Chernihiv and several settlements in the Chernihiv district.

The company clarified that energy workers will begin emergency restoration work as soon as the security situation allows.

According to Chernihivoblenergo, tens of thousands of subscribers were left without electricity following the attack.

It was also reported that an enemy drone fell on the territory of one of the enterprises. As a result, the façade and windows of an administrative building were damaged.
