Ukraine's Army Chief reveals details of Russian strike on training ground in Dnipropetrovsk region

On Saturday, March 1, the Russian army attacked a military unit located at a training ground of the Ukrainian Ground Forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The strike was carried out using a ballistic Iskander-M missile with cluster munitions, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports.
Syrskyi stated that there are casualties as a result of the strike, but the exact number of dead and wounded has not been disclosed.
Syrskyi also mentioned that to determine all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy, a comprehensive commission, led by the Head of the Military Law Enforcement Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is working at the site of the incident.
During the investigation, the commander of the training center and the commander of the military unit have been removed from their duties.
"I have tasked the commanders of the branches and the armed forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to organize a review of the compliance with the orders of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the timely warning of missile threats, the prohibition (restriction) of the deployment of personnel, and the holding of meetings and assemblies in open areas, as well as the placement of personnel in inappropriate areas," Syrksyi stated.
Attack on military training ground in Dnipropetrovsk region
Earlier, the media reported about the enemy shelling of the Novomoskovsk training ground in the Samarsky district of the Dnipropetrovsk region during the assembly of soldiers from the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In particular, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the strike was carried out by an Iskander-M missile system.
Later, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty reported that a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine all the circumstances of the event. He also confirmed that on March 1, one of their units became the target of a Russian missile strike.
As previously reported, the State Bureau of Investigations has opened a criminal case regarding the deaths and injuries of Ukrainian servicemen as a result of the Russian missile strike on the military training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
