The Armed Forces of Ukraine have become the most powerful army in Europe due to combat experience and Western support, despite Russia’s significant advantage in resources, states US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his interview with Fox News.

Why the Ukrainian army has become the strongest

According to the US Secretary of State, Ukraine currently has the most combat-ready armed forces on the continent.

He stressed that this status is the result of a combination of two key factors — extensive real combat experience and systematic military assistance from partners.

"The Ukrainian armed forces are the strongest, most powerful armed forces in all of Europe, just to be clear, right now – obviously because a lot of the assistance they’ve gotten, but also because of the battlefield experience that they’ve gained," Rubio emphasized.

Russian losses and war dynamics

Rubio pointed to a significant difference in personnel losses between the two countries.

According to him, Russia loses between 15,000 and 20,000 soldiers killed per month. This is five times higher than Ukraine’s losses.

The Secretary of State also described the overall human and economic consequences of the war as enormous for both countries.

At the same time, he acknowledged that the negotiation process is currently slowing down. In his view, this is because both Kyiv and Moscow remain optimistic about their future battlefield prospects.

Expectations for negotiations

Despite the current pause in diplomacy, Washington is counting on the resumption of dialogue.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope that a moment will soon come when both sides will be ready to sit down at the negotiating table again.

Peace talks to end the war

It was recently reported that the EU is considering the possibility of establishing a direct communication channel with the Kremlin. Brussels aims to avoid being excluded from the peace process, which the United States is currently trying to lead.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that Washington does not want to waste time on ineffective peace efforts. According to him, the US is ready to act as a mediator, but only if there are real prospects for reaching an agreement.

In parallel with diplomatic efforts, Ukraine continues work on humanitarian issues. In particular, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov discussed with Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner during his visit to the US the intensification of cooperation in securing the release of Ukrainians from Russian captivity.
