Today, August 9, a security advisers meeting will take place in the United Kingdom with delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and European countries, according to Sky News.

The summit will be led by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and US Vice President J.D. Vance.

A spokesperson for the British Prime Minister emphasized that during today’s conversation, Keir Starmer and the president of Ukraine confirmed their anticipation for the upcoming meeting of national security advisers from Europe, Ukraine, and the United States.

"This would be a vital forum to discuss progress towards securing a just and lasting peace (in Ukraine — ed.)," he added.

What led up to this

Yesterday, August 8, Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, held an online meeting with national security advisers from partner countries.

According to Yermak, the online meeting included national security advisers from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and NATO.

Later, Axios reported that advisers are expected to meet in the UK over the weekend, though no exact date was announced.

It is known that on August 7, US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff held a lengthy discussion with security advisers from Ukraine and NATO, but they did not have time to cover everything.

Meanwhile, on August 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the advisers’ negotiations had already taken place. According to him, both Ukraine and the West understand that at least a ceasefire with Russia can be achieved now. However, this requires pressure on Moscow.
