No movement of equipment or personnel is currently recorded near the border with Belarus, and the number of Belarusian and Russian troops has not increased, State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko reports.

The State Border Guard Service spokesperson said the service is not detecting any signs of a buildup of force directly along the border line.

"If we are talking about the border line itself, fortunately, as of now, we are not recording any movement of equipment, weapons, or personnel, nor any buildup in the immediate vicinity of our border," Demchenko said.

At the same time, he stressed that the main task of intelligence services now is to monitor the situation not along the border itself, but deeper inside Belarusian territory.

Intelligence records Russian pressure on Minsk aimed at securing broader participation in the war against Ukraine, which creates the risk of another invasion — either by Belarusian or Russian forces.

According to the spokesperson, the number of Belarusian units near the Ukrainian border has remained unchanged since 2022.

"Their numbers are neither increasing nor decreasing. What is happening is regular periodic rotation," he noted.

Demchenko also says that there is currently no significant Russian military presence in Belarus.

"If we are talking about Russian army units, they are currently not numerous on Belarusian territory. If certain Russian units remain there, they are primarily involved in logistics and support. As for infantry units that could carry out an invasion of Ukraine from Belarus at this moment — fortunately, none have been recorded," he noted.

At the same time, the spokesperson warned about the risks posed by the Belarusian infrastructure.

"However, the infrastructure facilities that Belarus continues to develop on its territory, including toward our border, and the logistical routes it is building, could be used by Russia at any moment to transfer additional forces into Belarus," Demchenko stressed.

Previously, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that Belarus continues to equip training grounds and bases and expand logistical routes, although the nature of Belarusian military activity has not changed.

Notably, tensions around the Ukrainian northern border have been escalating since mid-April, when President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia was attempting to draw Belarus into the war. Later, the media reported that the Kremlin was preparing five possible scenarios for action along the northern direction.
