Ukraine and Russia's negotiation plans

The upcoming talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul will mark the third round in recent months.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized today, July 21, that the new meeting with the Russian side is expected to focus on the return of prisoners, the repatriation of children deported by Russia, and preparations for a leaders’ summit.

According to Zelenskyy, only a meeting between the leaders can bring about concrete results for peace between Ukraine and Russia.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow wants to discuss memorandums on ending the war - documents previously exchanged by the two sides.

The Russian memorandum is essentially an ultimatum containing conditions that are unacceptable for Ukraine.
